Case Studies
Cardinal 150MW Cogeneration Plant
The Cardinal cogeneration facility is located adjacent to the Canada Starch Company (CASCO) plant in Cardinal, Ontario. The facility is a natural gas-fueled combined cycle cogeneration system utilizing a Westinghouse steam turbine, a single pass condenser, auxiliary boiler, and a water treatment plant.
GTAA 117MW Combined Cycle Cogeneration Plant
The project was the construction of 117MW Combined Cycle Cogeneration Power Plant for the Greater Toronto Airport Authority (GTAA) at the Pearson Airport in Toronto. The plant produces Electricity for Pearson Airport (which is projected to rise to 70 MW maximum) and Steam for Heating and Cooling of Pearson`s terminals. The plant also exports excess electricity onto the power grid at 44KV for sale to Hydro One and has full `islanding` capability for Pearson in case of possible power grid black outs.
Bayside Power Cogeneration Plant
ICS-STATE started on the Bayside Power Cogeneration project in the spring of 1999 and continues to perform multi-discipline installations with several clients for a total amount in excess of $30 million.
Nepco 580MW Peaking Power Plant
This project involved the installation of 4 - 145 MW Westinghouse 501D Gas Turbine/Generators with all supporting facilities. All 4 systems had Evaporative cooling and demin water injection to reduce emissions.
Nepco 540MW Peaking Power Plant
This project involved the installation of 3 - 180 MW Westinghouse 501F Gas Turbine/Generators with all supporting facilities. 1 unit had a Hydrogen Cooled Generator, and the other 2 units were newly designed 501FD Gas Turbines with Airopac Generators. All three generators had Evaporative Cooling and Demin Water Injection to reduce emissions. Power was tied into a TVA 400 KV Main Grid.
